The Aparimitāyur­jñāna Sūtra

Buddha of Infinite Life, foremost guide of this world’s beings— your glory overcomes all untimely death. You are the refuge for those suffering without protection. To you, Buddha Amitāyus, I pay homage!

om namo bhagawate | aparimita ayurjnana subinischita tejo rajaya | tathagataya arhate samyaksambuddhaya | tadyatha om punye punye maha punye | aparimita punye aparimita punya jnana sambharo pachite | om sarva samskara parishuddha dharmate gagana samudgate svabhava vishuddhe mahanaya parivare soha |

[Om Homage to the Transcendent/Fully Endowed/Destroyer. Boundless. Life. Transcendental wisdom. Totally certain Light. King. Gone to suchness. Arhat. Perfectly enlightened buddha. Thus it is said: Om. fortune. fortune. Great fortune. Boundless fortune. Boundless fortune. Transcendental wisdom collection increaser. Om. All compositional factors. thoroughly pure. reality. space. arisen. nature. completely pure. surrounded by great leaders. so be it.]

By this merit, may beings attain the state of All-Seeing-One and defeat the enemies of wrongdoing. Thus, may they be liberated from the samsaric ocean, which is disturbed by the waves of birth, old age, sickness, and death.

About the Long-Life Arrow (dadar)

(Adapted from Lotsawa): The Dadar is endowed with auspicious conditions. The arrow body has three nodes symbolizing the Three Buddhas of Longevity and holds auspices for longevity and immortality. The tip of the arrow is adorned with hard iron, symbolizing valor, vigor and courage, and holds auspices for a stable life and life force. The nock of the arrow rising towards the zenith is a sign of one’s power becoming as high as the zenith. The adornment with silk scarves of colors symbolizes the character of the people to be as soft as silk and the protection by the five kinds of ḍakiṇi spiritual beings. The ornamentation with feathers of a vulture indicates the heroic nature of people and holds the auspices of being well received on the path. The decoration with a hard iron tip symbolizes the protector deities and holds the auspices of accomplishing the four activities. The mirror on the arrow indicates the auspices of being protected by the nine mewa, eight parkha, and twelve animal powers. The ornaments of crystal, turquoise, and shell symbolize being protected by gods, ngen and naga spirits and possessing food and cattle. Decorated with varieties of jewels magnetizes the pure essences of the four elements. The life-arrow attracts longevity and wealth. It is the divine arrow of the heroes and ḍakiṇis. This is the bla-energy arrow of the protector deities. It is the relic arrow that attracts the dralha war gods and has auspiciousness for charisma.
